Cariló is an Argentine town in the Pinamar District, located on the Atlantic Coast of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Although it is part of a large number of towns next to each other along the coast facing the sea, Cariló is undoubtedly special. The combination of forest and beach, its spaciousness, its energy and the peace it evoques is unmatched.
It is ideal for a few days or weekend getaway, since it is only approximately 4 hours from the city Capital. It used to be a fishing place for Querandí groups that inhabited the Pampas area and was part of a large subdivision that took place during the 19th century and gave rise to the area of the so-called Atlantic Coast today made up of: Cariló, Pinamar, Valeria del Mar, Villa Gesell, among others.
Although it continues to grow more and more in terms of houses, hotels and commercial shops, Cariló continues to maintain the general code of a large forest connected to the sea and a style of a town straight out of a story.
Upon entering you see yourself immersed in a large forest with tall pine trees, and a wave of forest smell abounds that only forces you to lower the car window, breathe and let the air hit your face, connecting with everything.
UNDERSTANDING CARILÓ
Honoring that connection with nature, its streets are named after birds and trees. In order to better locate yourself, you should know that birds run parallel to the sea and trees run perpendicular to the sea (that is, they take you to or take you away from it). And the general idea is that they are ordered alphabetically. "A" being the closest to the sea. This can be affected by the golf and some streets that are not straight so it should be taken as a general but not absolute rule.
The main streets are Avenida Divisadero, which crosses Cariló from north to south, and Cerezo, which runs perpendicular to it. Arriving at its intersection you are in the shopping center. There you will find artisan shops, clothing and accessories stores, gastronomy, pop-up stands of different brands and many more proposals.

It has 4 beach clubs: Hemingway, Neruda, Cozumel and Divisadero.

The beach clubs are fully equipped with a restaurant, tent service and some offer recreation for children. In general they are pet friendly, but we recommend consulting in each case.
The beach is VERY wide, up to three hundred meters wide.
The best pizza is at the classic AQUA Y FARINA. Although there are other places like EL REY DE LA MEDIA MASA (another classic, if you like this type of pizza) or more contemporary places like PEPPE NAPOLI, PARLIAMO or ALMACÉN DE PIZZAS.

Let's end with... FUN FACTS:
"Cariló", in the indigenous voice it means "green dune", from the Araucanian Cari (green) and Lo (Médano/Dune).
In 1995, according to the Kodak company, it was the third most photographed place in Argentina.
The most important hummingbird garden in the country is located at Cariló Golf.
ITS STORY:
Before the Spanish arrived, this was frequented by the Querandíes (residents of the "pampas Húmedas"), who went to the coast in search of fishing.
The archives indicate that these fields were granted by Juan Manuel de Rosas to General Félix de Álzaga, for having been Chief of the "El Restaurador" regiment.
When he died, they were inherited by Martín de Álzaga, who was married to Felicitas Guerrero, who died in 1870. Having no children, the lands became the property of Felicitas' father, Don Carlos Guerrero, and later inherited by his seven children. This subdivision was carried out in 1886, and from this the ranches remained: "Martín García", "La Invernada", "El Rosario" and "Manantiales", property of Manuel and Enrique Guerrero.
Around 1918, Don Héctor Manuel Guerrero, owner of the "Dos Montes" fields, decided to afforest the dunes starting from the continental part towards the coast, forming the first massive afforestation of the Atlantic coast. In the '40s, this forestation reached great development, converting 1,600 hectares of sand into lush forest, and a plantation of more than a million trees with a hundred different plant species. It was also possible to secure the dunes with barriers formed by branches between the dunes and the mainland, 4 km from the beach.
On July 1st 1978, the "Urban Municipality of Pinamar" was created, taking part of the territory belonging to the party of General Juan Madariaga. As of today, the towns of Montecarlo, Pinamar, Mar de Ostende, Ostende, Valeria del Mar and Cariló form Pinamar's Municipality, and make up a Center for the Production of Services that are directly or indirectly related to tourist activity.
Without further ado, we invite you to visit it and enjoy unparalleled peace, different recreational and cultural possibilities, good gastronomy, and great contact with nature that is good for our soul.
