Firenze (or Florence) is a beautiful destination where you can choose to spend the day or stay a few more days. If you are in Rome and do not have a car, you can arrive by train.
We take this opportunity to remind you that depending on the trip you make, it is convenient to look for a train pack (in Eurail or Interrail). If you are going to take several trains around Europe, it may end up being cheaper than booking everything separately. There is an International combo that offers Eurail at a very good price. It includes different sections and you can use one of them to get to know Florence for the day.
Some points of interest to visit:
The Duomo, an imposing cathedral and one of the icons of this beautiful city.
Piazza de la República: on weekends they put together some markets with different gastronomic stalls.
A very nice spot to visit is the Ponte Vecchio. There is a place nearby to have lunch from where you can see the bridge and it has a very nice view: Golden View.
And another must: Piazzale Michelangelo. You have to climb a hill, you're going to see lovely Florence from above.
Other places to visit: Palazzo Pitti, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Annunziata, Museum of the Academy, Piazza San Marco.
The best thing is to get lost in the streets as much as you can.
If you stay overnight, we recommend eating at: Buca Niccolini.
How beautiful is Florence!
