We saw that you really like express guides, so here we go with our favorite neighborhoods/districts in Madrid:
LA LATINA
One of the oldest parts in the city. It is located south of the renowned Plaza Mayor. It is highly recommended to go at night to discover its bars and go for some "tapas" (on the street of Caba Baja there are many options).
Also, you will find the San Isidro Museum, a great place to learn more about the history of Madrid.
MALASAÑA
In the 1980s it was the center of the so-called "Movida Madrileña". Today it is considered the hipster neighborhood with many vintage shops, independent designers, bars and restaurants. Great nightlife.
CHUECA
One of the most elegant and cosmopolitan neighborhoods. There are many designer venues, trendy bars and signature restaurants. We recommend having a drink on the terrace of the Mercado de San Antón. The Plaza de Chueca is the neuralgic center of the neighborhood.
SALAMANCA
One of the most expensive and elegant areas of Madrid. You will find the so-called "Milla de Oro" (Golden Mile), for shopping in exclusive stores of Spanish and international designers. Also, you'll find many Michelin star restaurants and bars. Visit Casa Dani.
EL RETIRO
The Retiro park is the most iconic spot and dates back to the 15th century. The neighborhood is more residential and urbanization began at the end of the 19th century.
LAVAPIES
One of the most multicultural neighborhoods in Madrid. Nearby, you'll find the famous El Rastro flea market. And also theaters, museums, cultural centers and gastronomy.
CHAMBERÍ
It is a residential neighborhood, where the Madrid aristocracy lived during the 19th and part of the 20th centuries. Central and still quiet, you will find several places of interest. It also has a great cultural scene: You can visit the Teatros del Canal, the Teatro Quevedo and the Teatro Galileo (all iconic theaters).
