When you arrive at the terminal, take the “vaporetto” towards the city.
To stay, we recommend a very nice bed and breakfast called Al Portico Guest House.
The magic of Venice (like much of what you will see in Italy) is getting lost in the
streets, stopping from time to time, enjoying every corner.
A place that you cannot miss during your visit to Venice is the great Piazza San Marco. Where you will find the famous Basilica, the Bell Tower and the Doge's Palace. You will find several places to eat (those with a live show are more expensive). One of the most emblematic restaurants is Caffé Florian.
Another must is to visit the famous bridges (such as the Bridge of Sighs, the Accademia and the Rialto -and its markets-). Also, do not forget to take a walk along the Grand Canal, and the water streets with the characteristic "gondolas" and their "gondoliers".
You can take a gondola ride or pay for the "traghetti" which is like the "water taxi", it is cheaper and takes you from one section to another (and thus you will have a short water ride).
Another classic to eat is Harry's Bar. A world-renowned restaurant where several personalities met. The owner is the famous Giuseppe Cipriani... Yes, from the luxurious Cipriani restaurant chain (hence its higher price).
To start, we recommend the carpaccio, they say it was invented here, in the year 1950. Another great dish from this place: noodles with prawns.
Museum lovers: visit Gallerie Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim.
At night we recommend going for a walk aimlessly and exploring the city under the stars, so you will fully experience the charm of Venice. A recommended restaurant for a great dinner by the water is: Ristorante Al Vagon.
If you are going to stay more than one day and have time to escape to a nearby island, we recommend: San Giorgio, Maggiore, Murano or Burano.
Before you go to Venice, check the dates of prominent festivals such as the famous Carnival, the Biennale and the Redentore Festival.
