If you are planning a trip to the West Coast of the United States, you cannot miss a visit to LAS VEGAS.
If you have time, the best is to do a roadtrip along the famous Route 66, but you need at least a week to complete for this. If your days are numbered, you can take an internal flight from Los Angeles airport (LAX) to Las Vegas directly.
If from there your idea is to continue with a road trip along the West Coast, you can take a round trip flight to L.A, take an internal flight to Las Vegas and then another internal one to San Francisco to start the road trip from there and go down with the rental car to L.A for the end of the trip.
To visit Las Vegas, 2 days is more than perfect! But try to make it two full days.
DAY 1
#GuestTravelTips to keep in mind: the outlets here are MUCH cheaper than anywhere else on the West Coast!
And be careful with ATMs, they charge you per withdrawal.
The airport is quite close to the center. We recommend arriving early this first day so you have more time to explore.
There are many hotel options, a good recommendation is the Excalibur hotel. It is a castle and its name is due to the legendary sword of King Arthur. It is very good in terms of price-quality relation. And it is very well located.
Las Vegas' life is truly non-stop. Its dynamic is to walk through the famous hotels, many connected to each other by tunnels / bridges. And enjoy the night that is very fun.
The lobbies of all the hotels are practically the same (beyond the fact that each one has its theme and setting). But in general, they all have their giant casinos located in the center of each hotel, and around them are restaurants and bars.
To review a few: You have the New York hotel with the statue of liberty at the entrance and very "New York style shops" inside (it has a very fun roller coaster). The MGM is set with things from movies and series. The Paris with a giant illuminated Eiffel Tower at the entrance. The Circus Circus has a giant circus.
The Venetian is literally like being inside Venice, Italy (we recommend going at night). It is very different from the interior of the other hotels since it is more sophisticated and calm. Inside it has a canal with the typical "gondolas" and very Italian stores, as well as very exclusive.
There are thousands of hotels, each one has its charm.
Keep in mind that in most of them the Wi-Fi does not reach the rooms. This forces you to go down to the lobby and be tempted to gamble on the machines or play in the casino. The business of Las Vegas is gambling.
In summer it is very hot, 43 degrees approx.
It is best to tour the city at night, to see the hotels with the lights and effects. During the day it it loses its "charm".
One of our favorites to eat, is Bubba Gump. Very tasty, you eat quickly and have a very good customer service. They have a fun system to call the waiter: on the table there is a metal sign that is settled in RUN FOREST, RUN. To call the waiter you change it to red that says STOP FOREST, STOP. The first waiter that passes must stop.
A great bar is Ghostbar, on the rooftop of the Palms hotel. A MUST!
It is one of the most exclusive, very elegant. It is best to go early. If you go to eat at the hotel, they give you free entry to go up to the Ghostbar. The music in the place is VERY good and the terrace and view is amazing.
DAY 2
One of the best ways to live Las Vegas "party side" if you only have 2 days is: a rooftop and a pool party. Of course, the bars and nightclubs are awesome, but they are not THAT different from what you you can see elsewhere. On the other hand, the parties on the rooftops and the pool parties are really something iconic here, each one with its essence and style.
Therefore, we recommend checking out in advance about the pool parties that are very fun and usually have international guest DJs. We got to see Calvin Harris at the MGM Grand!
To enter a pool party in this hotel they check everything, even your wallet. You can not enter with backpacks, but you can enter with wallets.
As the party usually finishes in the late afternoon, you can go to eat at one of the hotels at night. We recommend Sugar Factory next to the Caesar hotel. The food is fantastic and from the terrace you can see the Bellagio hotel water show that is right in front.
Sugar Factory has very tasty dishes and they serve you candies and other goodies to order. If you order drinks they are also decorated as if they were candy. And they are gigantic.
For photography lovers: Go to the Polaroid Bar.
Las Vegas is exhausting. And the hotels are so big that it takes time to go through them and at the same time to go down the Boulevard. The best thing, as a difference from other destinations, is to sleep a little more to be well rested since the afternoon and at night is what you end up living the most.
DAY 3
Shopping in Las Vegas is much cheaper than in the other places. And even more if you have the coupons to go to the Premium Outlet. There are two, the North and the South. If your plane leaves later in the afternoon/evening, we recommend going to the outlet in the morning.
The important thing is, entering the Premium Outlets website in advance, and print the coupons or save them on the phone. When you do, make sure you also check that you want the VIP coupon book. They give you a code to redeem in person. When you arrive at the outlet you have to go to reports and exchange what you have for the VIP checker, it is an extra in addition to the coupons that you have already saved.
If you have time when you return from the outlet, you can also go to a mall in downtown Las Vegas, it's called the Las Vegas Fashion Show.
For internal flights we recommend traveling with Virgin. Very good attention and service, the plane is super neat, and they have a very fun system for information on emergency exits.
